Brno Open 2023
U21 World Championship and European Professional Championship
The 21st annual Brno Open took place from October 6-8, 2023, at the Starez Arena Vodova in Brno, once again ranking among the largest dance sport competitions in Europe. This year's event brought the entire world's dancing elite in both standard and Latin American dances back to Brno. The culmination of all competitions was the U21 World Latin American Dance Championship and the Professional European Standard Dance Championship, which took place on Czech Republic territory for the very first time!
More than 120 dance couples from 40 countries and 4 continents participated in this championship.
The Czech Republic was successfully represented by dance couples Jonáš Tománek - Šárka Kosmáková at the U21 World Championship in Latin, who made it to the finals and placed 6th. David Odstrčil - Tara Bohak at the European Professional Standard Championship, they narrowly came in second place.
Friendship Cities Cup
For Brno, it was no less significant Friendship Cities Cup, which featured teams from our partner cities of Bratislava, Leipzig, Stuttgart, Kaunas, Vienna, and of course, host city Brno.
The Saturday gala evening filled the sports hall, hosted by presenter Jan Onder. Singer Roman Vojtek and stars from the TV show Stardance performed. Accompanying international ranking competitions were prepared for younger and older age categories, so the audience was treated to a truly diverse array of dance couples of all age groups from around the world.
This year's competition will feature a record 800 dance pairs from all corners of the globe. Czech Television has produced a total of 3 television programs about this event.
