Brno Open 2026 brings the World Youth Standard Dance Championship to Brno

On October 17 and 18, 2026, Brno will become the venue for world dance sport. The Brno Open Dance Festival 2026 will bring dance couples from the Czech Republic and abroad to the MUNI Campus Ball Sports Hall. The highlight of this year's event will be the WDSF World Championship Standard Junior II – the World Junior Standard Dancing Championship.

Young dance couples will compete in Brno for the title of world champions in five standard dances—waltz, tango, Viennese waltz, slowfox, and quickstep. The world championship will offer Czech spectators the opportunity to watch the rising generation of world dance sport right in Brno.

However, the World Championship will not be the only major competition of the weekend. The Brno Open 2026 will also offer other competitions held under the auspices of the World DanceSport Federation (WDSF).

On Saturday, October 17, alongside the World Junior Championship, the WDSF World Open Latin for adult couples and the WDSF Open Latin in the Youth category will take place. The competition program will begin at 10:00, and in the evening starting at 18:30, it will culminate with a gala evening.

Sunday, October 18 will belong primarily to standard dances. The program will feature the WDSF World Open Standard for adults, as well as Youth and junior category competitions in both standard and Latin American dances.

World Dance Sport in Brno

Brno Open has long connected international dance sport with the city of Brno. The festival brings dance couples, coaches, judges, and fans from the Czech Republic and especially from abroad to the Moravian metropolis.

This year's event is exceptional precisely because it hosts the WDSF World Championship Standard Junior II. For the Czech audience, Brno Open thus represents an opportunity to see a world-class competition and the best junior dance couples.
