Brno Dances the World<\/h1>\nThe 2025 World DanceSport Championships Delivered Top Performances and Emotions<\/h2>\n
The Vodova Sports Hall in Brno transformed into a stage of world dance excellence on Saturday, October 18. The Czech Republic hosted for the first time in history two World Championships in DanceSport \u2013 the WDSF World Championship in Latin American Dances<\/strong> and the WDSF World Championship in Showdance Standard Dances<\/strong>. The event took place as part of the prestigious Brno Open 2025 festival, under the auspices of the World DanceSport Federation (WDSF) and the Czech DanceSport Federation (\u010cSTS).<\/p>\n More than 250 top couples from 42 countries gathered in the South Moravian metropolis. The entire evening was attended by over 3,500 spectators in the hall and thousands more watching live on Czech Television\u2019s \u010cT Sport channel. The event was hosted by Jan Onder<\/strong> and Kamila Tom\u00e1nkov\u00e1<\/strong>, who created an atmosphere comparable to the world\u2019s largest dance shows.<\/p>\n \u201cFor Brno, this is a tremendous honor. For the first time in history, we are hosting two World Championships and at the same time presenting the city as a cultural and sports center of Europe,\u201d said Martin Odstr\u010dil<\/strong>, main organizer of the event and founder of the Brno Open project.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n \u201cDancing in front of a home audience is something indescribable. The energy from the crowd literally carried us,\u201d said Ela Odstr\u010dilov\u00e1<\/strong> after the performance.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n In the WDSF World Championship in Latin American Dances, the title went to Charles-Guillaume Schmitt \u2013 Elena Salikhova (FRA)<\/strong>, who impressed the judges with their technique and expressiveness.<\/p>\n In Showdance Standard, Denmark\u2019s Dmitri Kolobov \u2013 Signe Busk (DEN)<\/strong> dominated with an emotional choreography that received top marks from all members of the international jury.<\/p>\n The final evening offered not only competitions but also a special samba\u2013drumming show by Veronika L\u00e1lov\u00e1<\/strong>, winner of the TV show Stardance, together with Ritmo Factory<\/strong>, and a ceremonial award ceremony attended by representatives of the City of Brno, the South Moravian Region, the National Sports Agency, and the Czech Olympic Committee.<\/p>\n The Mayor of Brno, Mark\u00e9ta Va\u0148kov\u00e1<\/strong>, emphasized in her speech: \u201cDanceSport has a strong tradition in Brno. I am proud that our city has become the host of such an exceptional event that combines aesthetics, athletic performance, and international cooperation.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n According to preliminary estimates, the championship brought the City of Brno more than 25 million CZK<\/strong> in direct and indirect benefits, mainly from accommodation, transport, gastronomy, and tourism. The event also significantly promoted Czech DanceSport internationally and paved the way for future world-class competitions.<\/p>\n The Brno Open Festival is the largest dance event in Central Europe, traditionally bringing elite dance couples from around the world to Brno.
